Concinnitas
Principi estetici nell’opera di Leon Battista Alberti
Tiziana Proietti
NUOVA CULTURA | ROME: 2010
Starting from a careful investigation on the concept of concinnitas, the text aims to retrace Leon Battista Alberti’s thought through a critical reading of the many facets that affected his complex and controversial character.
The pluralizing character of the term under consideration, full of amalgamating capacities of apparently distant areas, presents itself in all its heterogeneity as the guiding thread of Albertian thought, offering a vision of the treatiser as unitary and coherent as possible.
The reflections addressed converge, as evidence of the organicism of thought, in the mysterious emblem depicting a winged eye, understood as the power and the limit of the gaze, symbol of a fascinating journey in constant – and, if you want to, obstinate – search for precepts able to lead to a refinement which is also a “teaching to see”.
